Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will visit Lebanon and Turkey from May 31 to June 3 to have wide ranging talks with Turkish leaders on economic co-operation and political relations. According to the schedule of the visit, the Prime minister will arrive in Beirut on May 31, and will visit the family of slain Rafiq Hariri to offer condolence on the sad demise of the former Lebanese premier. During his stay in Turkey from June 1 to June 3, the prime minister will hold talks in Ankara with prime minister Recep Tayyip on matters of mutual interest and the two leaders will be joined by their delegations later.
Shaukat Aziz will attend a luncheon arranged by the Turkish Union of Chambers and Stock Exchanges. He will also call on Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Bulent Arinc.
On June 2, the Prime minister will address the Middle East Technical University (METU), a strategic research center in Ankara.
In Istanbul, the Prime minister will have exclusive meetings with leading Turkish leaders, and would apprise them of the economic turnaround made by Pakistan which has created tremendous business and investment opportunities there.
There will also be a meeting between the Turkish business leaders and leading Pakistani exporters and industrialists accompanying the Prime minister during the visit.
On the morning of June 3, Shaukat Aziz will hold a business meeting with the Foreign Economic Relations Board, before returning home at 1400 hrs.
The Prime minister will also sign a number of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Turkey in different fields.
