The contract employees of the Federal Bureau of Statistic (FBS) continued their hunger strike for sixth consecutive day on Saturday. About 90 contract employees have received termination notice from June 1, resorted to hunger strike and also intend to observe daylong hunger strike in front of Parliament House on May 31 to convey their message to President and Prime Minister. They threatened to set themselves on fire with their degrees, if their genuine adjustment was not ensured in the bureau.
Talking to Business Recorder they said that most of them have been working in FBS for last seven years, but on many occasions the administration did not bother to give them permanent jobs despite vacancies. These employees were of the view that there are still vacant positions in the FBS, where they should be adjusted on permanent basis.
They alleged FBS administration that 72 people have been recruited during last year against the 12 advertised vacancies. They contended that most of them have become over aged and could not apply in other government departments.
