Security forces have been put on alert for reprisal attacks on Saturday after a suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowd at the Bari Imam shrine, killing at least 19 people and wounding nearly 100 others. The government ordered security to be stepped up across the country, particularly at mosques and other places of worship in major cities and towns. Police investigating the blast have published photographs of the severed head of the suspected bomber, who appears to be in his 20s and has a thin moustache and unshaven face.
They have also offered Rs 500,000 reward for identification of the perpetrator. No one has yet claimed responsibility. The government has also offered Rs two million for information leading to the capture of those involved.
