Grain exports from the French port of Rouen totalled 501,627 tonnes for May 1-25, including 396,714 tonnes of wheat and 104,913 of barley, port officials said on Monday. That compared with total grain exports of 570,000 tonnes in the whole of May last year, comprising 484,000 tonnes of wheat and 86,000 of barley. Officials said five vessels were in port, four loading 71,000 tonnes of wheat for Algeria, Mauritius and West Africa, and one loading 8,000 tonnes of barley for Morocco.
A further three vessels were expected by the end of the month to load 60,000 tonnes of wheat and 3,300 tonnes of barley for unspecified destinations.
