The requisitioned session of the Sindh Assembly will begin at 9:30am on Tuesday, a private members' day, which in due course of time is expected to take up a large number of resolutions and adjournment motions the opposition has submitted. Opposition members have expressed apprehension that the session would not be allowed to sail smoothly and would be either taken up non-seriously or adjourned on any trivial issue.
They said law and order situation in the province and inability of the provincial government to plead its case of National Finance Commission (NFC) award were the two burning issues the opposition would like to debate in the assembly.
They said the inability of the Sindh government to convince the center and three provinces on the share of Sindh from the divisible pool was "shameful". They have demanded an explanation from the Sindh government on their failure in getting their stand on NFC accepted by others.
Opposition members, PPP in particular, are of the opinion that the Sindh government is maintaining a duel policy: one for the public consumption and the other for to please the center.
They said the Sindh budget was already being prepared on the old NFC formula and adjustment, if any, would be carried out at a later stage.
They said PPP was of the view that poverty, poor health facilities and inaccessibility to resources had incapacitated a large portion of the Pakistani population.
They said they would bring parameters of the budget under discussion through adjournment motions and impress upon the government that no new taxes or revision in rates should be introduce in the next year's budget.
