The University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore has appointed Dr Gulzar A. Niazi as head of biochemistry department under the foreign faculty hiring programme of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Dr Gulzar has obtained Ph.D. from University of Bristol, England and has 40 years of teaching and research experience in various national and international institutes and more than 100 research papers to his credit.
His fields of specialisation are biochemistry, medical genetics and haematology and his major area of interest is research in multi-factorial genetically disorders.
He has been consultant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and also contributed in setting up diagnostic haematology and research laboratory at King Fahad National Guard Hospital, Riyadh.
Recently, he has been working as adjunct professor at Echlin Health Centre, Quinnipiac University, Hamden, USA.
