The Japanese government has issued a tender for the purchase of 100,000 tonnes of hard wheat as an aid donation to Jordan, European traders said on Thursday. Origin was optional. Bidding deadline was June 23. The wheat was for delivery to Jordan's Ababa port in two 50,000 tonne consignments, one for August 15-31 and one for September 15-30. Japan has made a series of grain and other aid donations to Jordan in recent years to help the country overcome economic problems caused by the Iraq conflict.
