President Pervez Musharraf has stressed the importance of enhancing trade and investment links between Pakistan and the United States. He was talking to three members US congressional delegation led by Representative Michel Sodrel, which called on him here on Thursday. The President expressed satisfaction that Pakistan-US relations had acquired a strategic dimension to the mutual benefit of both the countries.
He expressed appreciation for bi-partisan support in Congress to a broad-based long-term relationship between Pakistan and the United States. He observed that political, economic and defence co-operation had deepened and expanded over the last several years.
The President reiterated the need for US to provide greater market access for Pakistani products and for increased US investment in Pakistan. He informed the delegation about Pakistan''s critical role in the campaign against terrorism. He said that Pakistan was committed to fully rooting out terrorism. Members of British Parliament Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Shahid Malik called on President Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi on Thursday. They remained with the President for sometime and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
