The rupee recovered 20 paisa against dollar in the open market on Friday on the buying side at Rs 60.50 and 25 paisa on selling side at Rs 60.55, moneychangers said. Some improvement was seen in the supply of the greenback, which helped the local currency to expand its ground, they added. The rupee, however, lost 20 paisa against euro for buying at Rs 74.70 and dropped 10 paisa for selling at Rs 74.90, dealers said.
In the international markets, the euro recovered some lost ground versus dollar.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, the rupee drifted lower most of the time, but finished with no big difference at Rs 59.64 and Rs 59.67 for buying and selling, respectively, marketmen said.
They said that persistent demand for dollars might push the rupee down in the coming days.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee improved its worth by five paisa on buying side at Rs60.70 and 10-paisa on selling side at Rs60.80, in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Friday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar's trading commenced at overnight closing rates of Rs60.75 and Rs60.90 on buying and selling sides, respectively. There was no change in the dollar's value during the early hours of trading. However, the greenback witnessed decline on account of surge in supply. At the end, the dollar was traded at Rs 60.70 and Rs 60.80 on buying and selling counters respectively, the dealers added.
However, the local currency showed stability and remained unchanged against the pound sterling. The British pound was traded at Rs 110.60 and Rs 111.00 on buying and selling counters, respectively.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.25 (buying) and Rs 60.35 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe any further change in the second spell and closed at Rs 60.25 (buying) and Rs 60.35 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 110.85 (buying) and Rs 110.95 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any change in the second session and closed at Rs 110.85 (buying) and Rs 110.95 (selling).
