Motorola said it had secured an $80 million one-year deal with Mobile TeleSystems to help Russia's top cell-phone company increase its coverage and capacity in Moscow, Central Russia and the Urals. Motorola said on May 31, it will supply global systems for mobile/general packet radio service infrastructure to Mobile TeleSystems.
"This is the largest contract we have signed with MTS during our 11 year relationship and extends the areas in which we work together yet further with expansion into the Urals region," Motorola executive Margaret Rice-Jones said in a statement.
