Three-time champion Lleyton Hewitt will make his first competitive start since losing a Masters Series final three months ago when he cranks up his summer grass season at the Queen's Club event starting on Monday. The Australian father-to-be, reportedly planning a July wedding with pregnant fiancee Bec Cartwright, has not competed since losing to Roger Federer at Indian Wells.
He pulled out of the Miami Masters hours after defeat, heading home to Australia for toenail surgery.
Getting back on his feet after several weeks of recovery, the 2002 Wimbledon champion then slipped in his house, cracking ribs.
After missing the French Open, the Aussie battler will have to be keen to return to action at the pre-Wimbledon tune-up event. Queen's was the scene of a Hewitt hat-trick as he lifted trophys in 2000-2002. He went out in last year's semi-finals to eventual champion Andy Roddick, seeded second at this edition in west London. American Roddick crashed out early on the clay of Paris, giving him plenty of time to acclimatise to the grass.
