Budget brings no relief for common people: MMA

Central Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader and Naib Amir Jamaat-i-Islami, Senator Prof Khurshid Ahmed flaying the federal budget 2005-06 said that it neither provided solution nor relief to common people affected from unprecedented price hike and unemployment. In an interview, he said the budget provided no solution to control inflation, which was 11percent, and with respect to food items, it was 15percent.
"The most painful thing is that the National Finance Commission (NFC) award was not given to the provinces for the past three years making things worst for the provinces, particularly the Frontier and Balochistan in formulating their budgets," he added.
He however praised adjustment of duties particularly on Industrial inputs. He said, earlier we were not competitive in the international market. Adjustment of duties would help us to compete in the international market," he added.
