The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has completed a plan for the development of forests in various places in the city. This was stated by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Wednesday on the occasion of World Ocean Day with the collaboration of Wild Life and Sui Southern Gas on the topic 'Green Learn and Fun' to create awareness in children regarding the betterment of environment.
He said the CDGK was planning to develop forests in Malir and other areas. It was necessary that the number of old buses, that are creating environmental pollution in the city, should decrease as soon as possible. In this regard, an Urban Transport Scheme was launched to introduce CNG buses to be run by the private sector, he added.
"The next 250 buses will come in the next two months and more buses will come according to the contract and there are chances of investment from China and other countries materialising soon ", he said.
MODEL MOSQUE: The CDGK will build a Model Mosque in an area of 21,522 sq. yards adjacent to the Civic Center. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 880 million.
This project would have a Five-Star Hotel, auditorium and a library. The project would have the capacity of 6,500 Namazis, and 5,000 persons in the library, while the auditorium would have language classes, a cafeteria, and separate section would be built for women.
