Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration in research on science and technology concerning industrial sector.
Chairman PSF, Dr Farid Malik and President ICCI, Tariq Sadiq inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Farid Malik said the progress in the country was possible only if the latest research on science and technology were made available to the industrial sector.
He emphasised the need for giving priority to research and development and its application in the indigenous industry to compete end survive in the modern world.
He said under the agreement, ICCI would form a committee for co-ordination and liaison between ICCI and PSF and would transmit requirement of industrial and business sectors for research on specific technologies and products received from ICCI members to PSF.
The ICCI would ensure transfer of requisite technologies to industrial sector through co-ordination with PSF. On its part, PSF would provide details on latest scientific research/technologies and development to the ICCI and identify the research areas to meet the requirements of ICCI members.
Highlighting the initiatives taken by PSF, Dr Malik said the Foundation was actively promoting the concept of applied research for socio-economic development under its Industrial Linkage Programme.
