General Manager Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Limited (PPCBL) Raja Allah Baksh has said that the bank will provide loans to the tune of Rs 8 billion to the small farmers in the province till June 2005, under different schemes. He said this while addressing a meeting of senior officers of the bank. Issuance of loans to co-operative societies for Kharif 2005 and recovery position for Rabi 2004-05 were also discussed.
Moreover, the meeting reviewed issues pertaining to disbursement and recovery of loans for livestock and dairy development under Self-employment Scheme of the Chief Minister Punjab. The bank had issued loans of Rs 1.5 billion under the livestock scheme.
He stressed upon the officers to ensure maximum loaning facilities to the farmers in light of the directives of the State Bank of Pakistan and the Government of Punjab.
Raja Allah Baksh also observed that the Self-Employment Scheme of the Chief Minister Punjab would play a vital role to overcome scarcity of milk and meat.
