The new Inspector General Police Punjab, Zia-ul-Hassan Khan called on Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, at Chief Minister's House, here on Friday. The Chief Minister directed new IG Police to pay special attention to improve law and order in the province besides intensifying operation against cattle-lifters and the elements harbouring the criminals as well as those involved in heinous crimes.
He further directed that complaints of the people should be immediately addressed at the police stations and it should be ensured that police officials behave politely with the law-abiding citizens. He said honest and dutiful officials should be given due encouragement while strict action be taken against those guilty of dereliction of duty or misbehaviour with the citizens. He said the process of reformation of police department to rid the people of Thana culture should be accelerated and all out resources be utilised for effective implementation of police patrolling project.
He expressed the hope that the new IG will play his due role for restoring the confidence of the people in police department, improving the efficiency of police force as well as providing relief to the citizens. IG Police Zia-ul-Hassan Khan assured the Chief Minister that he will utilise all his energies and abilities for the effective enforcement of Chief Minister polices for the protection of life and property of the citizens. He said the process initiated by the Chief Minister for bringing improvement and reformation of police department for provision of justice to the masses would be further strengthened.
