NWFP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Raffat Pasha has categorically made it clear that protection of life, honour and property was the prime responsibility of police and maintenance of law and order and protection of general public would be ensured at all costs. This, he said, while talking to a 40-member representatives of Jirga of District Kohistan who called on him to take up the issue of allegedly abducted girl from Dargai, Malakand Agency here, on Friday.
The Jirga was led by provincial minister Maulana Asmatullah and was represented by elected representatives and other elite of the area.
The members of the Jirga apprised the police chief in detail about the problems and difficulties being faced by them after the incident.
The IGP informed them that all the people have equal rights in the eyes of the law and no one was above the law and each and every one has to obey the law of the state.
He categorically made it clear that the police was bound to recover the allegedly abducted girl at all costs and vowed that all available resources would be utilised and every effort would be made for the safe recovery of the girl.
The IGP said that the people who extended help to the accused were equally responsible and would be taken to task irrespective of their state and position. The police chief urged the members of the Jirga to use their influence and help the local police in the recovery of the abducted girl by fulfilling their moral and social obligations.
The members of the Jirga strongly condemned the incident of allegedly kidnapping of the girl from Dargai, Malakand Agency by saying that the incident was regrettable.
They assured the IGP that they would extend all possible help and support to the local police against criminals and early recovery of the abducted girl. The police chief also assured the Jirga members that all the problems and difficulties being faced by them in context of the incident would be resolved and they would be provided peaceful atmosphere to carry out their routine activities.
