Justice Amir Hani Muslim of Sindh High Court, who is also the administrative judge of anti terrorism courts (ATCs) in Karachi, on Friday ordered investigation officer to conduct investigation of kidnapping for ransom case against human rights activist Jam Saqi and his wife Ms Akhtar Sultana till June 17.
Ms Sultana, arrested by police from Hyderabad, is charged along with her spouse for kidnapping her own nephew for ransom. Police, however, did not arrest Jam Saqi, in this case so far.
Complainant Shakeel Naich, who is ex-brother in law of accused, registered a case at Eidgah police station Karachi on May 29, 2005 accusing her and her spouse of kidnapping his six-year old son Rafay and demanding a ransom of Rs 500,000 for his release.
Akhtar Sultana denying the allegations of kidnapping termed it "case of political victimisation."
She had told administrative judge that alleged abductee was living with his mother Afsar Sultana and step father Abdullah Khan Chachar in Sukkur.
Investigation officer, who was directed on last hearing by AJ to verify the statement of accused, informed today that he found house of abdcutee's step father Abdullah Khan Chachar locked and school of abdcutee was also closed due to summer vacations.
He told the court that accused was also remanded in another case lodged at Gulistan-e-Johar police station Karachi by concerned magistrate and sought her further remand till June 13, 2005.
Sultana's counsel told AJ that interim bail was granted to his client by division bench of Sindh High Court and surety had been furnished in this regard.
Administrative Judge ordered compliance of court order and directed IO to release accused in said case if not involved in other cases. The investigation officer was also directed to complete investigation of case till June 17, 2005.
