The first meeting of the reconstituted Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) Reforms Committee will be held here at Governor's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) Secretariat on June 18.NWFP Governor Khalil ur Rehman especially formed the FCR committee under its Chairman former Justice Mian Mohammad Ajmal to make an in-depth review of the law in vogue -FCR- in the tribal territories since British colonial rule in the sub continent.
The committee would also recommend necessary amendments and modifications in certain clauses of this legal document.
The introductory meeting, the first since the government reconstituted the committee will be attended by all its members and deliberate on its assigned task.
The Governor during his recent meeting with the members of committee has made it clear the government was determined to bring gradual changes in the said law. That would be done by reforming it now in the changed situation with an avowed aim of providing much-needed relief to the tribesmen in the existing legal system in force in the Fata.
The FCR reforms committee headed by former judge Mian Mohammad Ajmal includes: MNA Dr Sayed Javed Hussain, Ex chief secretary Khalid Aziz, Principal Secretary to the Governor Brigadier Asad Munir (Retd), Secretary Fata Security Arbab Mohammad Arif, Political Agent Khyber Agency Fida Mohammad, a retired senior officer Sang Marjan Khan, a senior journalist Rahimullah Yusafzai, and two lawyers Abdul Karim Mahsud and Wali Khan as members.
