Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim was given a presentation by Alternate Energy Development Board at a high level meeting held at Chief Minister House here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion Dr Arbab emphasised upon full utilisation of alternate energy resources so as to meet the requirements of electricity.
He said the government will encourage the power generation projects and in this regard the intending investors will be provided land at appropriate rates.
He made it clear that the land allotted will have to be used for specified purpose only and completion of project in two years will have to be ensured. He said in case the protect remains incomplete, the land will be cancelled.
The Chief Minister appreciated the, spirit of investors and stressed on early launch of the project.
Later he approved the summary granting 3460 acres of land on 30 years lease in the coastal area.
It was decided that lease amount will be Rs 500 per acres for the first 10 years, Rs 1000 for the second 10 years and the rate for last 10 years will be decided through mutual consent.
The meeting was informed that under the project wind mills will be installed through which 1000 MW of electricity will be generated. It will provide job opportunities for local people.
It was also decided that the project will envisage transfer of technology which infrastructure facilities will be provided by government and investors. The meeting was informed that 7000 acres of additional land will be required.
For this purpose the land will be identified and allotted and investors. Beside others, the meeting was attended by Advisor for alternate Energy Noman Saigal, Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, Air Marshal Shahid Hamid (Retd), Chairman AEDB, Brigadier Dr Nasim A. Khan, Secretary Environment Shamsul Huq Memon, Secretary Finance Malik Isar, DCOs, Karachi and Thatta and Chairman CM's Investment Cell Dr Ghousuddin.
