The agriculture department Punjab has adopted stringent measures to check adulteration in pesticides during the current cotton season. Secretary Agriculture, Punjab, Fayyaz Bashir said this, while presiding over second session of Cotton Crop Management Group meeting held at Agriculture House, said a spokesman here on Wednesday.
He directed the functionaries of agriculture extension wing and pest warning centre to check the sale of fake pesticides in the market to ensure provision of quality pesticides to the farmers. He said that district level departmental functionaries would also be held responsible if provincial inspectors detect sale of fake/adulterated pesticides. The meeting was informed that attack of 'whitefly' and 'thrips' might increase in some parts of Punjab because of high temperature.
