Pat Cash has hit out at Wimbledon organisers over their decision to make Lleyton Hewitt only the third seed for this year's championships, despite his world number two ranking. Unlike the other Grand Slams, Wimbledon takes players grass court form into account when they decide the seedings and, as a result, last year's beaten finalist Andy Roddick has been seeded second, behind defending champion Roger Federer.
Cash, the 1987 champion at the All England club, said Hewitt, who won in 2002, had been treated unfairly.
And Cash refuted the idea that Roddick's victory in last week's warm-up tournament at Queen's justifies his second seeding.
Cash added: "Everybody's trying to avoid Federer if at all possible - and who wouldn't - but that's really given Roddick a boost, and a boost that I don't think he deserves over Hewitt."
