Pakistan Petroleum Ltd (PPL) General Manager Human Resources, Mohammed Iftikar, was wounded in an attack by two unidentified gunmen early on Tuesday morning in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority neighbourhood, said a press release. The gunmen riding in a brown colour Toyota Corolla car intercepted and stopped Iftikar's vehicle in front of an under construction house, off Khayaban-e-Muhafiz in DHA's Phase VI.
He was on way to his office between 8.0-8.30 am, his driver Mohammad Khaliq Khan told the police.
Both men, having weapons in their hands, came out of the Toyota Corolla and approached Iftikar's car, the driver told the police in the first investigation report.
One of the assailants snatched the key of Iftikar's vehicle at gunpoint, while the other started shooting at him, the driver said.
The assailants, both in mid 30s, fled in their vehicle.
Iftikar sustained bullet wounds on his chin and abdomen. He was immediately rushed to hospital, where his condition is now stable. The cause of the attack is not presently known.
The Company has expressed its deep concern over the incident and has urged the authorities for immediate arrest of the culprits, the statement added.-PR
