The writers and intellectuals have emphasised upon the need to set up a foundation or trust to work for the promotion of Sindhi language both in Pakistan and India. They were speaking at a reception hosted for the three-member delegation of Sindhi writers from India by the Institute of Sindhiology, Sindh University here, on Monday.
Noted writer and journalist Hari Motwani said that he had visited Sindh for over seven times and the people of the province had always give him respect and treated him with love.
He said he was born in Larkana and with the passage of time his love for the birthplace had increased manifold.
He said that Koonj magazine had been in publication for over 46 years and it has played a key role in introducing the work of Sindhi writers based in India.
He thanked the Sindhi writers and intellectuals for warm hospitality.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Government of India and Government of Pakistan who provided an opportunity to the writers to meet with each other and work for the promotion of Sindhi literature.
Linguistic hero Thakar said that the writers should get benefit from the positive approaches of both the governments to create friendly environment, which will also help in making joint efforts for the promotion of Sindhi language and literature.
He hoped that the writers from Pakistan would come forward and help in establishing a foundation.
Thakar said that he was born in Hyderabad in Fojdari Street and visiting his birthplace after a period of 57 years.
Dr Ghulam Ali Allana said that the migrated Sindhi writers with their hardworking created a place for them in India and today they are the most developed community.
He said that the Indian Sindhi writers would always find love and affection for them in the hearts of the Sindhi people of Pakistan.
Sindhi Adabi Board Secretary Inam Shaikh said that the Hindu scholars and intellectuals have contributed a lot for the development of Sindhi language and for promotion of Sindhi literature.
Institute of Sindhiology Director Shaukat Hussain Shoro, noted poet Imdad Hussaini, scholar Dr Sahar Imdad, storywriter Ghulam Nabi Mughal and others also spoke on the occasion.
