The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has made all arraignments to hold three-day exhibition "My Karachi: Oasis of Harmony". Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan will inaugurate the exhibition Friday morning. This is the second exhibition organised by the KCCI to improve image of the city in the eyes of the world business community, industrialists, investors and tourists.
At the inaugural ceremony of exhibition, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan will be the chief guest and Chief Minster Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim will be co-host.
A total of around 150 stalls were set up by Pakistan and foreign exhibitors, including 83 stalls by 100 Chines companies.
A delegation comprising around 217 members of Chines businessmen belonging to Kashgar province have already reached Karachi. They have booked entire hall number three to display Chinese products, including handicrafts, fabrics, toys, electrical goods, etc.
16 exhibitors of Bangladesh under the auspices of Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau also established their display stall to display products including silk saries, fabrics, handloom items like nakhsi khata, jamdani saree, handicraft, tribal ethnic products, imitation jewellery, jute-made goods and many other products.
Sri Lanka Tea Promotion Bureau will provide free tea service for visitors at their stalls to develop Sri Lanka tea taste among visitors of the exhibition. A stall of Indonesian Consulate has also been set up.
Around 60 Pakistan exhibitors also participating in the exhibition and they have set up stalls in the exhibition to display products including textile, electronic, foods, plastic items, etc.
The participation of SMEs in a big way would be an added segment. The association of financial and services institutions would add to the variety.
The KCCI also made provision of entertainment and food street. All foreign and local exhibitors are allowed spot sale of goods.
Last year, 73 industrial and commercial organisations participated in the exhibition and set up 100 stalls in three big halls at the Expo Center. Besides, Indonesia, Poland and Romania added a new damson and it enlarged its scope.
