Australian Agency for International Development (Aus AID) will provide a grant of 1.65 million Australian dollars to improve quality of education and increase access of girls to schools in Balochistan. Sources told Business Recorderthat the main objective of the grant was to promote good governance and contribute to basic services' delivery with focus on health and education.
The ministry will launch the project in four districts of Balochistan ie Kalat, Khuzdar, Pishin and Sibi.
Sources in the Ministry of Education said that under the project, the ministry will organise teachers' training workshops and will develop tools to measure learning achievement of students. Strategic partnerships at the district level will be augmented to increase access of girls to quality primary education in Balochistan, sources added.
Sources said that the Australian government sponsor scholarships on yearly basis, and this year 10 to 15 Pakistani students will go to Australia.
Sources said that the objective of the scholarships is to equip the people with skills to enable them to fully contribute to development efforts.
The scholarships will be available, for master-level study programmes, in health, education, agriculture, environment and governance.
All Pakistani citizens will be eligible for the Australian scholarship programme.
