Pakistan Navy ships, Moawin and Tippu Sultan, conducted successful joint exercise with the French Navy Units off Djibouti in Red and the Mediterranean Sea. The ships are, at present, on a goodwill cruise to UK, USA, and Mediterranean region, according to a news release of ISPR issued here on Sunday.
A number of surface, subsurface and air units of both navies actively participated in the exercises, which involved combined anti-submarine exercises and various air and surface manoeuvres and tactics.
The exercise provided a classical arena in which units from both navies were pitched against each other and subsequently drew lessons from critical analysis of threat scenarios.
These exercises not only further strengthen professional ties between the navies but also provide an excellent opportunity to learn from each other's experiences of maritime warfare and enhance the skill to deter seaward acts of terrorism.
Upon completion of the exercises, the ships have now reached Ireland where they were given a warm welcome.
This is the first time ever that Pakistan Navy ships have visited Ireland. This visit is expected to draw substantial diplomatic gains.
