Senator Mrs Tanvir Khalid has stressed upon effective training of all civil servants so that they are able to serve the nation in the best possible way. She expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Standing Committee on Establishment (Cabinet, Establishment and Management Services) held at National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), here on Saturday.
She praised the efforts of the faculty of NIPA for introducing latest methodologies and technologies, which will go a long a way to enhance the managerial skills of the civil servants.
She said that research work should be made mandatory at NIPA so that civil servants may be able to incorporate the new concepts and ideas in their respective departments, leading to good governance. Earlier Director General NIPA, Maj.Gen. Sikandar Shami (Retd) in his welcome address briefed the standing committee on the functions and performance of NIPA.
He apprised the members of the three levels of training being imparted to the civil servants at NIPA, which include the advance course in public sector management, short capacity building courses and custom designed courses. He pointed out that the purpose of all the courses is to broaden the knowledge of the participants in order to crate an awareness of the policies, structures, functions and programmes of the government.
Senator Muhammad Amjad Abbas, Senator Mouhim Khan Baloch, Senator Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi, Senator Kamran Murtaza, Senator Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, Senator Muhammad Abbas Komaili, additional secretary establishment, joint secretary establishment and NIPA officials attended the meeting.
