Inspector General of Police Punjab Zia-ul-Hassan has directed all the police investigators to conduct investigation of criminal cases and ensure cent percent recovery of stolen property. Talking to APP here on Sunday, he said all SSPs, ASPs, DSPs and other subordinates of the Investigation have been directed that during the investigation of serious cases they must personally visit the sites of occurrence, record the statements of witnesses and collect all relevant information required under the law.
The IGP was of the view that 'investigation is one of the most important integral parts of the police on whose basis the culprits are to be awarded sentences by the competent courts on the basis of irrefutable evidence.'
He said overall performance of all investigators will be monitored through centralised computerised network and those investigators showing the worst output will be sacked from the department.
All the accused named in the FIR and found involved in the commission of offence should be rounded up immediately as travel facility has been provided to investigation in charges of all police stations, he added. He said action would be taken in case of superficial investigation.
Later, SP Sadr division Imran Mahmood in a follow-up meeting with ASPs, DSPs and Inspectors said that officials showing poor output will be reverted to lower ranks besides departmental action under the removal of rolls service ordinance. He said: "Injustice with any person can never be tolerated and it is the duty of police investigators to deliver the goods by providing relief to the genuine aggrieved persons.
A record number of over 37 police investigators of Sadr Division have been served show-cause notices for defective or delayed investigation and shoddy recovery of stolen property.
