The police will launch a grand operation against drug pushers to make Pakpattan a drug free district. District Police Officer Pakpattan, Riffat Mukhtar Raja on Sunday said this while talking to the newsmen on a ceremony held here to commemorate International Day against narcotics and drug abuse here.
He said, all steps are being taken to eradicate this social evil from the district. Highlighting the police performance during the last five months, the DPO said special campaigns were launched during this period and huge quantity of narcotics was recovered, Police registered 268 cases of narcotics and arrested 277 drug abusers, he added. The police also recovered 14 kg chars, opium of 1.5 kg, poppy of 91 kg and 621 bottles of liquor.
The DPO urged the public to cooperate with police to eliminate criminals including drug pushers from the district. Meanwhile, Anjuman-e-Islah-e-Muashra Pakpattan also led a walk against narcotics from college, to chowk Baba Fareed.
