The development of the telecom sector is a key priority in Pakistan. Our government has demonstrated its commitment to the sector by allocating significant resources for its accelerated development in view of its importance for economic and social development.
The current telecom policy is aimed at attracting further foreign & local investment, increasing the teledensity, and promoting sector development. Our guiding principle has been transparency, fairness and non-discrimination.
We have come a long way since our independence, and today we have a rapidly developing telecommunications infrastructure which has the potential to absorb huge investments in the future. Just in the last few years, we have seen positive growth within our telecom sector as networks being enhanced, and extended to even the smaller cities of the country through fixed line and mobile telephony.
I congratulate Worldcall on launching its Worldcall Wireless Local Loop (WLL) service and urge companies, service providers and operators from all over the country to fully participate and benefit from the ongoing telecom revolution in the country and help bring economical and quality telecommunication services to all the citizens of Pakistan.
Private sector companies like Worldcall can take advantage of their existing experience and operations in the market to help further the development of this important sector.
