Collector Sales Tax, Hafiz Jamil Owasi, has advised the business community to pay principal amount of the sales tax outstanding against them before June 30 so as to take advantage of facilities available to them under SRO 520. While addressing the members of the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) here on Tuesday, Owasi maintained that central board of revenue (CBR) would settle and dispose off the refund claims within 60 days.
He assured that carry forward problems would be settled before 30th June by the CBR authorities. He said the government has already allowed the business community to transfer money through electronic system and credit cards provided that accounts of both the parties' ie buyers and sellers are identifiable.
He called upon the GCCI members to assist the collectorate in identifying those assessees, who are liable to pay sales tax.
Acting GCCI president, Sheikh Muhammad Ali, Asam Bajwa, members of executive committee, industrialists and traders attended the meeting.
