The Sri Lanka rupee closed lower on Wednesday as importers bought dollars to cover trade bill payments, traders said. The rupee ended at 100.10 per dollar, falling from Tuesday's close of 99.82. The rupee firmed sharply last week on news of the deal, which came after months of political bickering that split the ruling coalition in two and has seriously weakened the government.
Call money rates were steady at 8.875 percent to 9.0 percent, compared to 9.50 percent on Tuesday.
