National Assembly (NA) Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said the government was making strenuous efforts for resolving the problems being faced by the minorities living in the country on top priority basis. Addressing women workers of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Minorities Wing here on Saturday afternoon, he said the government had set aside huge funds for the welfare of minorities and completion of their development projects in the country.
The NA Speaker also said that minorities were free to enjoy their rights and free to live according to their faith in the country.
He urged the PML (Minorty Wing) Women Workers that they should play their instrumental role in creating political awareness among the womenfolk in their respective areas and work for the development of the country.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain, on this occasion, assured the women workers that special step would be taken for redressing the complaints pertaining to computerised national identity cards on top priority basis, saying that Nadra would be asked to send its mobile teams to different union councils for minimising the complaints of women folk of Sialkot district.
The government was endeavouring for banishing the backwardness from the remote areas on top priority basis aimed at bringing them at par with the developed parts of the country, he said.
The NA Speaker said the government was utilising huge funds during current fiscal year on the face-lifting of far-off areas and improving the economic conditions of the masses.
On this occasion, Chaudhry Amir Hussain informed that the government was preparing fool-proof arrangements to hold local bodies elections in fair and transparent environment in the country.
According to the government decision, the union councils elections would be held on non-party basis while the elections of district and tehsil Nazims would be held on party basis, he added.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that candidates for district, tehsil and union council nazims and women seats would be nominated with the consultation and consensus of MNAs and MPAs of the district.
Speaking on the occasion Sialkot PML President (Minorities Wing) Ms Janis Naeem Chand highlighted different problems being faced by the Christians and Hindus living in the district. The minorities living in Sialkot district were enjoying their rights and free to live in accordance with the caste and religions, she added.
Later, the NA Speaker also had a meeting with different delegations belonging to Daska and Sialkot tehsils, and discussed different issues.
