Second seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and Liezel Huber of South Africa won the Wimbledon women's doubles title on Sunday for their first Grand Slam title since joining forces at the start of the year. They defeated the untested duo of Amelie Mauresmo of France and Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia 6-2, 6-1 in the final.
It was a first Grand Slam title for the Black and Huber pairing, although both were in last year's final but with different partners.
The southern Africans teamed up after that and reached the French Open final last month but lost to Paola Suarez and Virginia Ruano Pascual.
Mauresmo and Kuznetsova on the other hand were much higher ranked in the singles but they were playing together for the first time at this tournament.
It showed as Black and Huber jumped into an early lead in both sets and dominated the game from both the baseline and at the net.
Huber's win was the first ever for a South African in the Wimbledon women's doubles tournament.
