The Consul General of Kyrgyz Republic, Islan Ruskulov, has said that Kyrgyzstan hopes to develop to a society based on the democratic leadership of law, maintenance of fundamental human rights and peace for itself and its neighbours. He was addressing a press conference on Thursday to brief the local media on July 10 general elections in Kyrgyzstan.
He said that important political event of the year in Kyrgyzstan is the forthcoming election on July 10, 2005, when the new president of Kyrgyzstan is elected. On June 13, 2005, the registration process for the presidential candidate had come to an end. In all six candidate got the registration certificates.
The consul general said that the National Election Commission has accredited 125 members of the local mass media, which will participate in illumination of election campaign of candidates, adding that representatives of the international organisations and foreign countries and local observers will also observe the election process.
In Kyrgyz Republic, there are 77 foreign diplomatic representatives and 29 international organisations accredited, he said, adding more than 600 observers from more than 30 countries of the world have expressed their readiness to watch the process of elections.
Islan Ruskulov said that the Bureau of Democratic Institutes and Human Rights - OSCE - would monitor the election process whether it is in conformity with the regulations of OSCE and other international standards of democratic elections and the national legislation.
The international mission on supervision of the election process - OSC0E - consists of 15 experts, while 26 observers of the mission will be sent to all regions of the country, and before elections they will join about 300 more observers, the cosul general added.
