The Sri Lanka rupee closed lower on Friday as importers bought dollars to cover trade bills, traders said. The rupee ended at 100.14 per dollar compared to Thursday's close at 100.08.
Some traders expected this week's biggest-ever IPO on the local bourse by No 1 mobile operator Dialog Telekom to boost the rupee as around $35m worth of foreign investor dollars come into the economy and are changed into rupees in coming days.
