A member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) with prayer to direct the respondent government to provide houses to homeless people of Pakistan. The petitioner, M.D. Tahir contended that a number of people in Pakistan are spending their nights by sleeping on roadsides and other open places in Lahore and recently six people were killed by some unknown assailants.
He submitted that it is constitutional obligation of the respondent government to protect their lives and also provide shelter to homeless people but the respondent government failed to fulfil this basic duty.
He prayed to the court to direct the respondent government to provide security to such people.
