Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday said the government will use all its resources to make sure that a Code of Conduct to be issued by the Election Commission (EC) for forthcoming local bodies polls be enforced in letter and spirit.
Shaukat Aziz added that the holding of these elections in a free, fair and transparent manner was the ultimate objective of the government and efforts would be made to achieve it.
He was talking to Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) Chairman Daniyal Aziz, who called on him separately.
The government, Shaukat Aziz said, would provide what he called a level playing field to all candidates contesting the elections and urged the people to elect honest, upright and dedicated individuals.
"The code of conduct to be issued by the election commission for local bodies polls must be implemented at all costs," Shaukat was quoted as directing the NRB chief.
