The import of live animals from India through land route is likely to start from next week as Indian government has removed all irritants and given green signal to the proposal. Food Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan told journalists here on Wednesday about Indian clearance that it no more has any objection for export of live animals to Pakistan through land route.
"We (Pakistan) have received the good news from across Wagah (India), and the import of live animals will begin possibly from next week," the minister said at a news conference.
"Now," the minister said, "Indian government has changed its mind and I don''t see any further hurdle in its materialisation."
SEAFOOD EXPORT TO EU: Secretary Food Ministry Ismail Qureshi who was also present said that the government might lift ban on export of seafood to European Union (EU) countries from August.
The Secretary said the government had done a lot for seafood products in accordance with standards required for export to EU countries.
