Dr Mathias Brust from the Center for Nanoscal Science University of Liverpool, UK said that there was a big scope of co-operation between the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and UK universities in the field of education and research. He said the Liverpool University was prepared to co-operate with UAF particularly in the field of chemistry.
In a meeting with professor Dr Bashir Ahmad Vice Chancellor UAF in his chamber, he said private sector was fully collaborating with the universities in UK and USA in Research and Development in addition to the co-operation in the field of education.
However, this spirit was practically non-existent in the educational institutions of developing countries. He said he would fully concentrate on strengthening relations between the Liverpool University UK and the chemistry department of the UAF.
The Vice Chancellor said that the Faisalabad city has become a focal point of science, education and research as it has UAF in addition to the Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology, National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute and NFC institute. As many as 500 PhD scholars are working in these institutions, he concluded.
