Pir of Zakori Sharif Dr Khalid Raza Zakori has termed Hasba bill as a political endeavour by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) government to regain its lost popularity and the procedure adopted for its passage was unIslamic. Talking to newsmen, Pir Zakori Sharif said the bill was a controversial issue and did not coincide with constitution or Islamic Shariah.
He said the NWFP government did not enforce Shariah in the province in the past for which it had promised, and got votes from the masses and now it was raising the issue of Hisba bill to befool the people.
Pir Zakori said all articles about the religion already existed in the constitution and there was no need to pass any further bill. The purpose to move the bill was just to achieve political benefits in the forthcoming local government elections, he added.
The MMA government was trying to create complications in the present judicial system through the bill, he said, adding the Hisba bill was introduced with an aim to establish the MMA's dominance in the province particularly their voters and using wrong ways to harass the people.
He said the controversial bill would also be used as oppressive apparatus to subdue the state machinery to illegal instructions of the government.
Pakistan Muslim League Ulema and Mashaikh Wing Amir said the procedure of Hisba act was contrary to Shariah. For law making, Council of Islamic Ideology was there for consultation and recommendations, but that process was not followed by the MMA government in case of Hisba act.
The Bill would establish a government within the government as well as dual legislation, adding the bill would establish a system parallel to the judiciary.
He said the Bill would promote the culture of suppression in the society because the Hisba force would enjoy absolute powers.
Zakori said Islam is a religion of love, peace and tolerance, which does not favour suppression.
