The Town Municipal Administration of New Karachi has established five relief camps, and asked local NGOs to help the Town administrations in taking precautionary measures to meet any emergency during expected rains. The camps were set up at the Government Boys Secondary School, Sector 5-F (White School), Government Secondary School (Complex), Sector 11-E, Government Girls High School Sector 5-A/3, Government Boys Secondary School (Kalyana) Sector-10 and Nishtar College, Sector 11-B (Reserved Camp).
A meeting with representatives of NGOs working in the town was held with TMO/Caretaker Saeed Akhtar in the chair at town office, in which the TMO informed NGOs about town strategy and sought their suggestions to help people in more better way. NGOs participated in the meeting, include Anjuman Musalmanan-e-Kalyana, Rind Welfare Association, Zia Welfare Society, Crescent Child and Youth Welfare Society, Anjuman-e-Falah Behbud, Shaheen Shelter Welfare Organisation, Masses Welfare, Anjuman Khawateen, Mehran Welfare Society, and Takmil-e-Aas Welfare Association.
On the occasion, Saeed Akhtar informed the meeting that a rain emergency plan had already been prepared, and now there was need to motivate public for taking precautionary measures.
"NGOs should display banners depicting various slogans and advice for general public. Three emergency numbers 6950007-8-9 will work day and night during rains for receiving complaints.
