Raw sugar futures settled marginally easier Friday on producer and speculative sales as most players waited for news that could inspire the market's next move into the following week, brokers said. The New York Board of Trade's October sugar contract declined 0.04 cent to conclude at 9.55 cents a lb., trading from 9.49 to 9.57 cents.
March eased 0.02 to 9.67 cents. The rest shed 0.01 to 0.04 cent.
"We had a very quiet session. The producers kept a lid on it, although the specs prevented it from falling too far. We'll probably consolidate here and then see if we can go higher," a senior floor broker said.
