Some 5,000 tourists were evacuated from the palace of Versailles outside Paris Monday after an abandoned picnic-box was found next to one of the famous fountains. Bomb disposal experts were called in and quickly established that the cold-box contained only food. France stepped up its level of security alert after the July 7 bombings in London.
