The Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday challenged Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain's contention about the 'deal' between government and the Sharif family and asked him to make the document public within 10 days. PML-N information secretary Siddiqul Farooq, addressing a press conference, said despite a lapse of four and half years, no body from the government side was able to produce any authentic proof of the so-called deal.
He said his party repeatedly challenged the government on the issue and once again giving it a chance to produce any solid proof in the court, press or any other forum to satisfy the party and people attached, otherwise Shujaat should apologise and take back his words.
"I'll accept the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain if he brings forward any document pertaining to deal between the government and the Sharif family," he added.
"If government has any document, why is it reluctant to make it public despite repeated demand from different quarters," he questioned.
Siddiq said he challenged ISPR former director-general Rashid Qureshi in December 2002 on the issue, information minister Sheikh Rashid in January 2004 and again in March 2004, announcing Rs 10 million for making the deal public, but he regretted that nobody was able to produce the deal document.
He recalled that on the request of Shahbaz Sharif, the Supreme Court has allowed him to come to Pakistan and appear before the court to face cases, but the government did not allow him even for going to jail.
