Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has said loopholes in the security system of western countries had sent waves of discomfort throughout the world. Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Farooq Kathwari, a leading businessman in Washington, the minister said recent incidents in United Kingdom had exposed so called security system of that country.
Farooq Kathwari is a Kashmiri businessman settled in the US, says a press release issued here by the Ministry for Kashmir Affairs. Faisal Saleh Hayat said the western countries needed to correct their direction as far as the fight against terror was concerned.
He said it did not suit those countries to blame Islam for every evil taking place there. Islam, he said is a religion of peace and in fact is the key of all social and other problems of people of the West.
They should correct faults in their security system and address root causes of terrorism, added Faisal. Talking about Pak-US relations, the minister said both countries had excellent ties at government level.
However, he said there was a need to promote people to people friendship also. He welcomed recent decision of the US on F-16s. The minister said Pakistan was pursuing a composite dialogue with India to settle outstanding issue of Kashmir.
He said resolution of Kashmir issue would guarantee economic stability of governments and the people of South Asia.
Faisal urged the Kashmiri businessmen in US to come and invest in tourism, hydropower and mineral development sectors in Azad Kashmir.
He said Azad Kashmir was offering attractive opportunities for foreign investment.
This area had remained behind other areas of Pakistan in economic development and main cause of that was the lingering Kashmir issue, he added.
The Minister urged upon the Kashmiris living in United States to establish a social and economic fund for development of Azad Kashmir.
