Negotiations between Pakistan and Indonesia are underway to sign a treaty for Comprehensive Economic Partnership (CEP) while a Joint Commission meeting will be held in September in Jakarta to further facilitate businessmen, and removing obstacles in free flow of trade between two countries.
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Anwar Santoso said this while addressing a seminar jointly organised by the Embassy of Indonesia and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on "Promoting Trade & Investment Between Indonesia and Pakistan" here on Wednesday.
He said the economic ties and bilateral co-operation between Indonesia and Pakistan have continued to strengthen over the years. It was duly supported by state visits of respective presidents and by various bilateral agreements, he added.
He said Asia-Africa Conference held recently in Bandung in April 2005 was a significant landmark for achievement of these goals. On this occasion President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had a one-on-one meeting with President General Musharraf and discussed measures to expedite existing pace of co-operation in the economic field, he added. Keeping in view the importance of regional co-operation, both leaders reaffirmed their strong commitment to further strengthen socio-political and economic ties and to further enhance bilateral trade between the two countries, he added.
He further said this seminar was the continuation of that commitment and the purpose of our presence here today was to offer some ideas and listen to yours on how we could help each other in strengthening bilateral commercial relationship.
