Opposition parties in Multan have finalised the list of consensus candidates in 112 out of 129 Union Councils of Multan district. The decision was taken because Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) District President Syed Mujahid Ali Shah, former Punjab Minister Hafiz Iqbal Khakwani, former Judge of Anti Terrorism Court Moulvi Sultan Alam, Ex-MNA Shaikh Tahir Rashid, Ex-MPA Ehsan-uddin Qureshi have decided to join official Muslim League.
However this situation has benefited the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) which had adjusted its maximum number of candidates.
Mujahid Ali Shah, confirming his departure, said that some ground realities had forced us to join the Muslim League, otherwise their opponent group might get dominance in Jalalpur pirwala and Shujabad towns.
Hafiz Iqbal Khakwani did not deny rumours about their departure to official Muslim League. However, Moulvi Sultan Alam said," I am not joining the official Muslim League. I will remain silent and would not do any activity." However, he declined to explain the reason of this behaviour.
Imran Liaquat Shaikh, an activist of MSF said the PML-N founder member had already voiced against the suspects but our leadership did not lend ear to our hue and cry and appointed Syed Javed Ali Shah as District President, Moulvi Sultan Alam as city General Secretary while founder workers were neglected.
With the departure of important personalities from Multan, the PML-N had no footing in Multan now.
PML-N city President Rana Noor-ul-Hassan told newsmen that arrival and departure of the people was a game of politics and quittal of Shaikh Tahir Rashid, Syed Mujahid Ali shah, Syed Javed Ali Shah, and any other person would not weaken the party. Instead that situation would encourage to those who were disappointed, it added.
