Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Lahore President Hafiz Salman Butt has said MMA would stage sit-in if police did not register FIR against Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) workers who opened fire on Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) workers a day earlier.
He was addressing a press conference here on Wednesday in presence of candidates for Nazim and Naib Nazim of Union Council No 105, Chaudhry Saleem and Abid Saleem, respectively. Butt said Chaudhry Saleem had constructed mosque in front of his house in which Punjab Minister for Tourism Mian Aslam Iqbal was taking oath from residents for casting their votes in favour of PML (Q) backed candidates.
He alleged the PML-Q workers on behest of the minister opened undiscriminating firing on JI workers which caused serious injuries to Adeel who was still admitted in the Mayo Hospital but police did not register case regarding the occurrence. Besides, another JI worker Asif Shabbir was kidnapped and taken to Punjab Minister Aslam Iqbal's residence. The minister forced him to give statement before police that Adeel was injured as a result of JI workers' firing and on his refusal he was subjected to physical torture.
